Tarek Atoui’s Hyundai Commission for Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall regularly transforms into a space for live sound-based performances across its six-month duration. Atoui has invited musicians from across multiple genres to compose, improvise and play, bringing their distinct approaches to sound into the Turbine Hall.

Each performance will create a different relationship between the musicians and the installation, from using it as a sound system or a series of instruments, to performing within its sonic environment.

Eight experimental contemporary vocalists – Elvin Brandhi, Gwilly Edmondez, Theodora Laird, Phil Minton, Elaine Mitchener, Maggie Nicols, Dylan Nyoukis and Saadet Türköz – come together for a specially-convened 'feral choir’ within Tarek Atoui's commission.

The live programme situates gathering, collaboration and collective listening at the heart of the commission.

This performance is organised in collaboration with Tate Modern
